RICHARDSON, Texas — April 27, 2015 — Vertex, a leader in utility customer experience solutions, today announced that Texas-based Sharyland Utilities L.P. has selected VertexOne™ Cloud CIS as its new customer experience platform.

With its decision, Sharyland Utilities joins 16 utilities across the U.S. and Canada using VertexOne solutions to serve over 7 million customers. Sharyland Utilities will migrate to VertexOne Cloud CIS and will be the first utility in North America running on SAP® Business Suite 4 SAP HANA® (SAP S/4HANA) – the next-generation business suite designed to help businesses run simple in a digital and networked economy.

“Selecting Vertex and its CIS platform was an easy decision given its experience in running customer service operations for utilities across North America,” said Mark Caskey, president of Sharyland Utilities. “VertexOne will allow us to create a seamless and remarkable experience for our customers while focusing our efforts on providing safe and reliable electric power to the communities we serve.”

As a public electric utility provider serving customers in numerous regions throughout Texas, Sharyland Utilities wanted a scalable, automated solution with an advanced meter integration (AMI) that could support the company’s continued growth. To ensure regulatory compliance while providing quality customer service and affordable rates, a high level of experience and knowledge of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) was required.

Based on Vertex’s nearly 20 years of industry experience, VertexOne provides built-in standardized business processes and best practices. Featuring an accelerated nine-month migration timeline, Vertex allows utilities to benefit faster from an industry-leading CIS solution, technology traditionally accessible only by larger companies. Now with VertexOne’s best-in-class delivery, uptime and technical support, midsized utilities can deliver a consistent self-service and multichannel experience to their customers.

VertexOne is built on the SAP Customer Relationship Management and Billing solution for Utilities package running on SAP S/4HANA and integrated with industry-leading third-party technologies. This powerful technology will provide Sharyland Utilities with simple and robust solutions designed around the customer experience.

“We’re thrilled to work with Sharyland Utilities,” said Andrew Jornod, chief executive officer of Vertex. “By selecting the VertexOne cloud-based CIS, Sharyland Utilities will ensure that their team has the latest and greatest CIS technology without the disruptions, distractions and expense of a traditional CIS implementation. Our ultimate goal is to make our customers – and in turn, their customers – happier, and we look forward to supporting Sharyland Utilities’ continued commitment to its customer operations goals.”
